I'm excited to share an update about the future of our cheer program and introduce our new coaching team. Both of our new coaches are also teachers here at Walled Lake Central, which will allow them to build strong connections with our students both in and out of the classroom.

Varsity Head Coach – April Jackson
April Jackson is stepping into the role of Varsity Head Cheer Coach and brings a passion for school spirit, teamwork, and creating a sense of belonging for all athletes. As a teacher at Central, she is already committed to building positive relationships with students. April was a high school cheerleader herself and previously coached for two years earlier in her career. After some time away focusing on family and cheering from the stands, she is excited to return to coaching; especially here at WLC.
Mrs. Jackson is eager to build a program where every athlete feels welcomed, supported, and excited to represent our school community.

JV Head Coach – Ryn (Kathryn) Smith
Ryn Smith will serve as our JV Head Coach. She is in her first year teaching at Walled Lake Central as the Self-Contained ASD teacher and is excited to take on this new role. Originally from Monticello, Georgia, Ryn brings energy, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to supporting student growth. She’s looking forward to building relationships with our athletes and helping develop the next generation of WLC cheerleaders.

Tryout Information
Tryouts will take place:
June 1, 2, and 3
4:00–6:00 PM
