Walled Lake SBX Team
Info & Sign-Up Meeting
Date: THURSDAY, October 30th
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Walled Lake Northern – Media Center/Library
Whether you're a returning rider or new to boardercross, we’d love to see you there! We’ll cover everything from the season schedule to gear requirements, team fees, and more.
If you are unable to attend, please let me know! I will send all necessary details via email.
🏔️ Season Overview
Practices & Races: Held at Alpine Valley
Practices: Typically 2 practices per week, starting once Alpine opens
Races: Begin after holiday break, generally 2 races per week through the end of February
State Qualifier, State Championships: last season were held at Mt. Brighton and Treetops Resort
Practice day/time, race schedule still TBD
Weather: Schedule may adjust based on snow and conditions
Teams: Girls and boys practice together but race separately
✅ Requirements & Details
Skill Level: No boardercross experience needed, but basic snowboarding skills (turning, stopping, riding downhill) are required
No Tryouts: All riders are welcome—placement in Varsity or JV races will be based on ability
Physical: A current physical must be on file to participate
Team Fee: As a club sport, we’re not part of the district's pay-to-play program. A team fee will be collected to cover:
Alpine Valley lane & rider fees
League registration costs
Tent fund & other team expenses
Details to be discussed at team meeting
Jersey Fee: new riders will have a jersey fee to purchase their required custom jersey for the season
Varsity Letter: Riders are eligible to earn a varsity letter
Season pass to Alpine Valley is strongly recommended: please note, our team costs do not cover lift tickets to Alpine Valley for practices or races, and we do not receive a team discount from Alpine Valley.
